Evolution of an AR*chitect: Level 5

AR Builds

This blog is #5 in a 5-part series on the evolution of an AR*chitect.

What is an AR*chitect you might ask? Well, it is someone who upgrades, builds, and maintains their own AR platform rifles.

Let’s look at level 5.

This is the level for the person who has already built an AR, and is ready to build more, of different calibers, different platforms, and for different purposes.

So you have built your own AR and become comfortable with exactly how the platform works. You’re ready to branch out into another build(s). Maybe it’s a big game hunting caliber like the 6.5 Grendel in the ar15 platform. Or a .308 Winchester in the ar10 platform. Maybe it’s a home defense PDW in 9MM. Or a long-range shooter in the AR10 platform like the 6.5 Creedmoor or .338 Lapua. Or maybe you want one of everything because… well, just because you want it… LOL.

Let the Fun Begin!

Once folks start building their own rifles they rarely go back to buying ready-made rifles. I know I haven’t. as my collection has grown I also swap parts around regularly. When I find something I want on a certain rifle, the parts get repurposed to the next build or swapped out on an old one. The fun never ends when it comes to building your own rifles.

There are subtle differences in the way you build different platforms. The AR10 is a whole topic in and of itself, that requires you to do some homework. But for the most part, they operate the same and are built in the same manner.

There are great videos on Youtube covering all these subjects. I have covered many of them on our Youtube channel, BYOAR. You can also join a Facebook forum on our BYOAR Facebook page called AR*chitects. This is a great place to gain knowledge in a judgment-free, snob-free zone.

We do not tolerate AR snobs or bullies in this forum. So you can feel free to learn with no ridicule. There are plenty of places where this happens on Facebook.

You have arrived. You are an AR*chitect. Continue your journey with us and share your skills with the next guy or gal coming up on their evolution. Until then…

BE SAFE, SHOOT STRAIGHT AND HAVE FUN.
